ESSA Nuts and Bolts
My Student Survey is leading the way in helping states and districts both understand and plan for the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The new law allows for a considerable amount of flexibility in how states design their systems of school accountability. One relevant aspect is the requirement for the inclusion of a measure of School Quality or Student Success. These might include measures of student engagement, school climate and culture, or advanced coursework.
Please see our webinar series below for more details on ESSA.
Understanding ESSA and Measures of School Quality
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) legislation poses both a challenge and an opportunity for states in several policy areas, including the creation of a system of school accountability. In collaboration with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), the Education Delivery Institute (EDI), we hosted a webinar to learn more about the details of ESSA and hear from state leaders on how they are approaching this challenge. During the session we went over the changes in ESSA, discussed the implications of the new Measures of School Quality and Student Success (such as student engagement and school climate), and shared best practices among members of various state education departments. You can see a recording of the session HERE.
